While chilling out in the afternoon I had this huge craving for a Burger… so while I was thinking which would be an ideal joint to satisfy my taste-buds.. pop came an idea! Why not make this a social media outing where I visit 3 different venues which have Foursquare tips left for them by previous visitors. And I would then try something out of these tips to validate them.

Hence I started the topic #BurgerHop on Twitter and visited the first joint, which is a neat local joint called ‘Burger Barn’ where I had the first ‘Crispy Chicken Burger’ which was actually not all that bad!

Second stop was my favorite KFC at Mariplex… without doubt I had to try out the Zinger, which I do swear by as still being one up from the McD’s next door :) By now some tweeps had started to notice the #BurgerHop topic on my twitter timeline and most wanted to join in, but couldn’t it being a Wednesday :/

Somewhat full… I landed up at Hard Rock Cafe and wasted no time in ordering myself the Legendary 6 oz burger… could have gone all the way to 10.. but nah.. and compliment that with a few Coronas :D 

While I was having all this fun time.. @prolificd suggested we should have an all-you-can-eat sponsored #BurgerHop and we got a few RT’s on the same.. while @sahilk said he had some ideas about @thetossedsalad now due to #BurgerHop

Case in point, the Social Media Outing worked to entice some interest from Pune tweeps.. how can this be used by brands now needs to be tried.. Thanks to Foursquare again for bringing some realtime action to what could have been a simple evening.

Finally.. @foursquare takes a stand against all those losers who were sitting at home & checkin-in on various venues.. grabbing mayorships on the fly. We always knew that any serious app needs serious rules, so all fun & games (for cheaters) are now coming to an end.. or basically thats the plan.

The latest addition of GPS location aware of Foursquare checkin will make sure that cheaters get no points or even mayorships.. I might suggest even a “Cheater Badge” for such losers. 

With Venues doing 4SQ promotions, it was about time that this happened.. now we can be safe that no couch potato will grab away your Starbucks Mayorship while sipping on his Coke at home!
