First Impressions - Google Buzz

Google Buzz Launch

Ok.. so now there is more crowd in the Social Networking space & this one’s actually a THIRD attempt by Google to get it right. Orkut has lost its fizz, Wave really didn’t hit it well with the non-techies and now we have Buzz which builds upon Google’s own established GMail database of users.. running into Millions!

Today I got the ‘Buzz’ tab below the Inbox in my gmail.. which I primarily use for work and secondary to keep in touch with friends apart from facebook & twitter. Its interesting to use, simple.. very Google like and collaborates pictures (picasa), video (youtube) & status update sharing. In fact its like the cross breed of Facebook & Twitter.. to put simply.

But here’s the Million $ Question.. or Euro! Will you MIX your Social Life & Professional Life together? So far we’ve had security concerns with the facebook’s rather independent thoughts on privacy.. Does google get into the same territory? I am assuming most of you will not understand the impact of mixing Social & Professional Lives, or maybe it does not matter. But just think about it..

What this means for facebook & twitter, I don’t think Buzz will destroy these.. it might significantly allow us Tumblr like functionality where finally all “Social Networks” combine as one giant GodZilla to keep us more glued to the LCD screens of our Laptops & Mobile Phones.

Let the great Social Networking Games begin & all the best to Google, hope they get 3rd time Lucky!
